Maggie’s Rock ’n’ Rodeo is Scotland’s first country themed bar, with it’s own Buckin’ Bull and exciting in-house events including the Cowboy Ceilidh, Rodeo Riders, and the Cowboy Stripshow to name a few. Previously known as Maggie Mays’, they underwent a major rebrand in Autumn 2023 and since then the venue has been growing in popularity and the team behind it have been able to add exciting new events to the roster.

The Problem
Due to the venue’s rising popularity since rebranding, the team behind it have been able to add exciting new events to the roster. These events were successful operationally, but not selling as much as expected due to their lack of visibility on the website.
The Goal
The primary goal of this redesign was to reduce friction in existing booking journeys, and ensure that all new events had equal visibility. While working on this, a secondary goal was to enhance the visual design, making it more cohesive. As well as improving the site performance if possible.
Site Audit
Conducted a full performance review to benchmark site speed and usability.
Analytics
Identified underperforming sections and high-dropoff points in the booking process using analytics accounts.
User Feedback
Conducted an informal survey to gather insights on user experience and navigation issues.
Stakeholder Consultation
Met with key stakeholders to share research findings, understand their vision, challenges & pain points, and discuss plans for development.
Information Architecture
Redesigned the sitemap to address areas of friction discovered through analytics research and feedback surveys. Outdated & underperforming pages were removed, and all event pages were ensured to have equal visibility.
Wireframing & Protoyping
Developed wireframes to test new booking flows and page layouts, ensuring they were clear, engaging, and conversion friendly.
Custom Code Development
To fit with stakeholder needs, this site was built using Squarespace. To elevate the site beyond Squarespaces' standard functionality, I created new customer-coded elements to improve how information was displayed, and overall booking experience.
Brand Consistency
Updated the sites' brand guidelines to align with both the venue's existing brand identity, whilst also following WCAG standards for accessibility.
Staged Rollout
Once wireframe designs were signed off, the new site was built using hidden pges within Squarespace to allow for testing without disurpting the lives site
User Testing
Shared links for the hidden pages to the relevant stakeholders for sign off before launching
